A study analyzing ‘home violence on women’, one hour before the National Team played in Brazil 2014 and two hours after there were between 300 to 500 denunciations on the emergency telephone line. This study was picked up by The National Institute of Women, Costa Rica’s Football Federation and Teletica Canal 7 (Channel 7 TV) whom together decided to put an extra slot on the scoreboard on all live showings of the National Team. Home team’s score, visiting team’s score and the 911 number of calls denouncing such violence. On Friday 13th of November, Costa Rica played Haiti at home on its pursuit of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
